ELY, MN- Two Belle Glade natives are representing the Muck well in college baseball.

Brothers Eric Leon and Jonathan Leon are playing at Vermilion Community College in Ely, MN and have helped propel the Ironmen baseball team to a 10-6 record so far, their best record since 2017.

In their last full season in 2019, Vermilion managed only eight wins the entire year.

In 15 games played for the Ironmen, Jonathan Leon has 20 hits, including two doubles and three triples. He has 11 RBIs and a batting average of .426. His three triples puts him in the top ten for the category in Vermilion’s district.

Eric Leon has five RBIs for the Ironmen in his early playing time and a .320 on base percentage. Eric played baseball at Glades Central in high school, helping the Raiders make back-to-back playoffs in his junior and senior year.

Eric and Jonathan’s older brother, Rene Leon, was the head coach of the Raiders baseball program for years, including Eric’s tenure with the team.

The Leon brothers will try to keep the momentum going when as the Ironmen travel to Virginia, MN take on Mesabi Range College on April 17 at 1 p.m.
