Black Gold Jubilee 2023 celebrations planned in April

BELLE GLADE — This year marks the 45th year of the jubilee and it promises to be eventful. From its beginning in 1978, the Black Gold Jubilee has grown to be the best attended festival in the area, it draws several thousand residents and visitors from across South Florida.

Scheduled each April, the Jubilee’s celebration focus is on its namesake “Black Gold,” a name given to the rich soil for its ability to produce bountiful harvests year after year.

This year the Jubilee is scheduled on April 15 and will be preceded by multiple events including the Children’s Fishing Contest, Night Time Golfing Tournament, the Little Miss Black Gold Pageant, the Harvest Queen Pageant, and this year the parade is back!

The festival will continue a mini concert the night before the Jubilee! On the morning of the Jubilee, festivities start with a 5K Walk/Run and 10K Run, at noon begins a day of fun, food, and entertainment. The day is completed with the grand finale - a spectacular fireworks display over the lake.

Schedule of Events

Saturday, April 1: Harvest Queen Pageant at the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center, Little at 5 p.m. and Harvest Queen at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 8: Children’s Fishing Tournament at Torry island, 5000 W Canal St. North. Registration is at 7 p.m. and fishing starts at 9 a.m.

Friday, April 14: Friday Night Concert at Torry Island. The Tom Jackson Band will start performing at 7:30 p.m,

Friday, April 14: Night Golf at the Belle Glade Municipal Golf Club, 2619 W Canal St North, Tee Time begins at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 15 is Jubilee Day: 5K Walk/Run10 K Run, registration begins at 7 a.m. Race begins at 8 a.m. Main Street Parade begins at 10 a.m. Jubilee starts at 11:30 a.m. at Torry Island.

Jubilee entertainment  schedule for April 15:

Sawyer Brown starts at 5:30 p.m.

Easton Corbin starts at 7:30 p.m.

Fireworks start at 9 p.m.
