During the event, guests took a tour of the mini boutique set up with racks of clothing, shoes and displays of accessories, a private dressing room and space set up for the job readiness coaching (a service that Dress for Success provides).

Among local leaders joining in the program were Kelley Burke, Chief of Staff to County Commissioner Melissa McKinlay; Tammy Jackson-Moore, founder of Guardian of the Glades; Laura Danowski, Vice Mayor of Loxahatchee; Robert Rease with Florida State Rep. Kelly Skidmore’s office; Charles Duval, CareerSource Associate VP of Business; and Julia Dattalo, CareerSource President/CEO.

More than a dozen of the organization’s volunteers and supporters traveled to the festivities aboard a shuttle bus from the group’s main location in Palm Springs.

Each guest received a thermal tote filled with pre-packaged snacks, bottled water and a fanciful “fashion-shaped” decorated cookie.

Teacher Appreciation
This year’s teacher appreciation breakfast took place on Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Eddie Rhodes Gymnasium in Pahokee. Teachers from Belle Glade, Canal Point, Pahokee, and South Bay were invited with approximately 200 teachers attending.

A lite breakfast of coffee and juices along with fruit cups and pastries was provided by local businesses. Each teacher received a bag full of “goodies” and many teachers won door prizes including a flat panel tv, computers, and a variety of other wonderful prizes that were provided by our sponsors.

Mrs. Moore from the Palm Beach County School District along with District 6 School Board Member, Mrs. Andrews, welcomed the teachers and gave
encouragement for the upcoming school year. Several organizations set up tables and handed out information on resources available to the teachers.

The event lasted a little over an hour with teachers being recognized for the challenging work that they do. We truly appreciate our teachers and we look forward to next year - we are already planning on how to make it better!
