Church helps with Thanksgiving meals

Posted

BELLE GLADE — With many families and individuals in the South Florida region struggling to put a Thanksgiving meal on the table this year, one local church was giving thanks on Nov. 20 by giving back.

Christ Fellowship, a multi-site church in South Florida  distributed over 6,000 complete meal kits on Saturday. The meals were distributed across 13 of its campus locations.

The meal kits were assembled using items and gift cards collected from a church-wide Thanksgiving food drive. Over 2,000 of these kits were distributed to provide complete meals for families, 3,000 kits  provided meals for homeless individuals and veterans, and an additional 1,000 people will receive meals through family dinners in Riviera Beach and Belle Glade.

This time of year is all about giving thanks for what we have, but for so many individuals and families in our region, this time of year can be a reminder of what they don’t have. Being able to put a meal on the table for a family who lost a job this year, or a homeless individual who has lost everything is something that doesn’t require a lot from us but means a lot to them,” said Becky Kyle, director of Christ Fellowship’s Missions teams.
