Florida Cabinet approves lease on Muck Tavern

Posted

TALLAHASSEE -- Governor Ron DeSantis and his Cabinet approved the lease for the Pahokee Marina Restaurant with JPDT at the March 29 Cabinet meeting.

The Muck Tavern Restaurant will be leased to the company owned by local football legends Jonathan Mann, Deonte Thompson, Travis Benjamin and Pernell McPhee (JPDT) .

The 10-year lease has two 5-year options for renewal.

JPDT has been trying to finalize the approval of their lease with the City of Pahokee since October 2020, with their plans bogged down by the chaos at Pahokee City Commission meetings.

Most recently, at the Nov. 10, 2021 Pahokee City Commission meeting, Jonathan Mann accused then city attorney Gary Brandenburg of trying to obstruct the JDPT lease moving forward.

At that meeting, Mann said their lease had been approved in 2020 and by the former commission and after the 2021 eleciton, was confirmed  by the new commission.

Mann said over the past two years, he and his partners have invested more than $140,000 into work on the building.
