PAHOKEE – Healthier Glades is offering mini-grants to individuals and nonprofits with ideas for projects that would improve health in the Glades.
At the Sept. 12 meeting of the Pahokee City Commission, Annie Ifill of Healthier Glades said the grant applications open on Sept. 27 and close on Oct. 18.

Applications can be returned via email or dropped off at public libraries.
Mini-grants will be available for up to $3,000 for residents and up to $2,000 for nonprofit organizations in the Glades Communities. Eleven minigrants will be awarded with eight to residents and three to nonprofits.

In addition to providing funding for projects, the process of writing the mini-grants helps educate residents about the grant writing process, said Ifill. This will help them apply for other grants.
