BELLE GLADE — In the spirit of Muck Bowl, a dedication of an 8’x 12’ mural celebrating Belle Glade’s history and hopes for a brighter future as part of a community beautification effort led by Muck City United.

The dedication is planned for Friday, Nov. 5, from 4 to 4:30 p.m. at  257 S.W. Fifth St., at the intersection of SW Fifth Ave. and S.W. Avenue C in the heart of Downtown Belle Glade. Side street parking is available on streets adjacent to the vacant lot where the unveiling event will be held.

Muck City United and Muck City Black Lives Matter will host the event to dedicate the mural, painted by local artist Lester Finney. Remarks will come from Robert Mitchell founder of Muck City United, alongside representatives of JPDT (organization led by local former NFL players including Deonte Thompson,) and local representatives of the Stop The Burn Go Green Campaign.

New organization Muck City United aims to create bridges between the communities of Belle Glade, South Bay, Pahokee, Harlem, and Clewiston to promote a vision of the dawn of a new era of prosperity and community development across the communities affectionately known as “The Muck.” The mural being dedicated to the city of Belle Glade reflects the vision of celebrating the community’s past while charting a new prosperous future for the Muck City communities.
