Pahokee to receive $3 million in American Rescue Plan funds

Posted

PAHOKEE – The City of Pahokee will receive $3,162,890 in funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, according to information shared at the Sept. 15 Pahokee City Commission meeting.

Interim City Manager Greg Thompson said he received an email marked “urgent” from the Florida League of Cities that the City of Pahokee had not applied for the ARPA funds the city is eligible to receive.

“The city has not signed an agreement to receive our ARPA funds,” he said. He explained this requires official action by the commission. The commission voted unanimously to sign the agreement.

Thompson said the city is eligible for $3,162,890. “We will receive half this year and half next year,” he explained.
