Philanthropy Tank opens applications for its next CHANGEmakers

Posted

Philanthropy Tank is looking for its next class of Palm Beach County “CHANGEmakers.” The nonprofit helps students in 8th- 11th grades expand their philanthropic programs through mentoring and training, giving them the skills and support they need to make a lasting impact in their communities. Each chosen finalist also has the opportunity to receive up to $15,000 in funding for their program. Philanthropist Investors and Mentors work with the students one-to-one throughout the year to fuel the students’ desire, help them execute their initiatives, and increase their ability to make meaningful change throughout Palm Beach County.

Mentors include a diverse array of local business and philanthropic leaders.

Mallory Thomas, Founder of GNOME and 2022 Philanthropy Tank Award Recipient says, “Philanthropy Tank has allowed me to see what it’s like to head an organization and make a great impact in my community! GNOME has added 7 gardens across Palm Beach County and gotten over 100 students involved in gardening.”

All interested students are invited to submit their application by October 29.

Student Application Requirements:

• 8th-11th grade
• Live or attend school in Palm Beach County
• Project must directly address a social issue within Palm Beach County

Philanthropy Tank Philanthropist Investors awarded a total of $47,000 to five local teen group finalists at this year’s finals event in March. The nine award recipients will now spend the next few months getting their programs up and running, or expanding what they already have in place.

Philanthropy Tank challenges, empowers, and equips the next generation of CHANGEmakers to develop and execute sustainable initiatives and solutions to solve problems in their communities. To date, Philanthropy Tank student-led programs in Palm Beach County and Baltimore have impacted more than 300,000 lives; more than 1,000 students have participated in the student programs; and more than $750,000 in grant money has been awarded to 75 student-led projects.
