Special to Lake Okeechobee News
The SFWMD and Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC) are continuing to make hiss-tory with the 2022 Florida Python Challenge. The challenge is an exciting conservation effort which helps protect America’s Everglades from invasive, nonnative Burmese pythons.
Visit flpythonchallenge.org and register for the challenge which will take place August 5-14. Online training is required. Trainings for the Florida Python Challenge® will educate participants on how to identify, report, and safely and humanely kill Burmese pythons. Participants will also learn how to correctly distinguish pythons from native snakes.
