WEST PALM BEACH — Palm Beach County Youth Services Department’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) began its summer feeding on Monday, June 21 throughout Palm Beach County. The program offers daily cold meals at 46 sites where children will eat meals on-site. The program has also brought back the Grab ‘n Go meal distribution at 22 sites, including 15 Palm Beach County Library System locations. In total, 68 sites will be providing meals to children.

This summer the program is also rolling out a new mobile feeding program. The SFSP will drive to five locations throughout the county for one-day of Grab ‘n Go meal service per week. The mobile feeding program provides a level of flexibility enabling youth outside of the SFSP’s regular feeding sites to receive nutritious meals.

The SFSP provides meals and snacks to eligible children age 18 and under during the summer months (June through August) and in times of emergency. Meals and snacks are also available to persons with disabilities, over age 18, who participate in school programs for people who are mentally or physically disabled. The Palm Beach County Youth Services Department administers and monitors this program, funded by USDA and the Department of Education. Sites are located throughout Palm Beach County in low-income neighborhoods.

For Grab ‘n Go meals, parents picking up kits without their child present must bring identification for the child. Acceptable forms include student ID, child’s passport or other government-issued ID, birth certificate, adoption decree, immunization records, and school demographics. Meal kits will not be provided to parents who do not bring their child or do not provide proper identification. Proper safety measures must be practiced.

• Cold meal sites include" Accension 33, Inc, 1540 NW Avenue L, Belle Glade, breakfast from 8:25 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from  12:45 to 2 p.m., Monday-Friday, through Aug. 6;

• City of Pahokee, 360 E. Main Street, Pahokee; lunch from noon to 1 p.m., snack from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, through July 30.

• Community Connections for Life, 241 W. Avenue A, Belle Glade, breakfast, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Monday-Friday, through Aug. 6;

• Digital Vibez at South Bay Community Center, 50 Levee Road, breakfast 8:15 to 9:15 a.m., lunch noon to 1 p.m., Monday-Friday, through Aug. 6;

• Lake Shore Civic Center, 1224 SW Avenue E Place, Belle Glade, lunch, noon to 1 p.m. and snack from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. through Aug 6;

• New Hope Charities, 7450 State Road 15, Pahokee, breakfast, 8 to 10 a.m. and lunch 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, through Aug. 6.

• Belle Glade Library, 725 N.W. Fourth Street, Belle Glade, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays;

• Clarence E. Anthony Library, 375 S.W. Second Ave., South Bay, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays;

• Loula V. York Library, 525 Bacon Point Road, Pahokee, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays;

• Pioneer Park, 866 S.W. 16th Street, Belle Glade noon to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
