CHS students put carpentry skills to good use

Posted

CLEWISTON - Clewiston High School students are working under the direction of teacher Milton Harris to build benches for the Tree Park at the east end of the Harlem community.

“Clewiston High School is doing a magnificent job on the benches for the park. Thanks to CHS Principal (Phillip) Summers and carpentry instructor Mr.  Harris, and the wonderful students at CHS our Harlem Beautification Projects are progressing expeditiously,” said Janet Taylor, a long time community leader and organizer.

“I have loved working on this project. Building these benches has been fun and I can’t wait to see them in place. The concrete slabs have already been poured at the park,” said one of the students. “We all have learned a lot from this, and it’s good to be able to do something to contribute.”

There are many more improvement projects in the works. Some are still just in the planning stages. If you are interested in helping with these projects, please contact the Harlem Tenants Association by calling 863-983-8312.
