BELLE GLADE — A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office press release stated at approximately midnight on Aug. 22, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) deputies responded to a single vehicle crash at 49300 N. U.S. 27 in Belle Glade.

A 2003 Dodge Pickup operated by Erbin Moya, 24, of Clewiston, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 27 within the inside lane. For unknown reasons, he steered to the left and lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle traveled onto the median and began to rotate. The truck traveled back onto the eastbound lanes, crossed them, and traveled onto the southern shoulder. On the shoulder, the vehicle impacted into a metal guardrail. Subsequently, the vehicle began to overturn as it traveled over the guardrail and into a drainage canal. While the vehicle was overturning, the driver was ejected from the vehicle. Both the driver and the vehicle came to rest in the drainage canal.

It was reported that Mr. Moya was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.

The actual time of the crash is unknown. The driver had last been seen at midnight and was not discovered until 1:30 p.m.
