CLEWISTON --  The Clewiston Museum is happy to announce the "Fancy Pantsy Arty Party" will be on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Clewiston Museum, 109 Central Ave.

This year’s event will feature a special guest artist – Clewiston’s own Laurie Snow Hein.

Hein has been creating museum-quality, fine art oil paintings for over 50 years.

This collection of coastal and inland Florida landscapes, beautiful beaches, wildlife and waterfowl of the Everglades, tropical botanicals and more captures the beauty of old Florida that Laurie knows so well.

It is the subject she is most passionate about, and she has dedicated her life to capturing it on canvas. Laurie is also a master portrait artist and takes a limited number of portrait and landscape commissions a year.

Hein will be doing a plein air painting demonstration on Bond Street from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. She’ll be creating a beautiful work of art that will be donated to the museum to sell in the silent auction during the Arty Party that evening.

Be sure to stop by to say hello and see this amazing artist at work. Later that evening, Hein will present a program during the Arty Party at 8 p.m.

Joining Hein at the Arty Party will be approximately 15 other artists, quilters and photographers who will exhibit their work and have pieces for sale.

There will be a small silent auction featuring Hein’s plein air painting and other items donated by the exhibitors. There will also be a raffle for a quilt donated by Clewiston’s Mayor, Kristine Petersen.

While you’re at the museum, check out the museum’s new Pickers’ Corner. It is full of vintage items and antiques that are available for purchase. It’s fun to look at, and you just might find something you want to take home.

While experiencing all the above, enjoy delicious desserts, wine and coffee, all included with the cost of admission.

Tickets for the Arty Party are $25 and can be purchased at the museum, from any museum board member or on the museum’s website at www.theclewistonmuseum.org.

The Clewiston Museum is a private not-for-profit that relies on donations, grants, the support of its members, and fundraising events like the Arty Party to remain in operation.

It is located at 109 Central Avenue in Clewiston and the hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday hours are by appointment only. Contact the museum at 863-983-2870 or via email at clewistonmuseum@embarqmail.com.
