Clewiston pedestrian killed in hit and run

CLEWISTON -- An 18-year-old was killed in a hit and run crash at the intersection of Art Lawrence Road and County Road 80A (Old US Highway 27) in Clewiston, Saturday, Feb. 13.

Florida Highway Patrol reported the teen was attempting to cross the road when a 55-year-old female driver struck him with her SUV. The accident threw the man into a utility pole.

Troopers found the driver at her Clewiston residence after she left the scene. The vehicle was impounded.

Citing Marsy’s Law, the Florida Highway Patrol does not mention the names of those involved in accidents. Criminal charges have yet to be determined. FHP continues to investigate.
