CLEWISTON — A Florida Highway Patrol press release stated that at approximately 3:35 p.m. on March 13 a SUV operated by a 37-year-old man, of Cape Coral, was traveling east in the inside lane on State Road 82, east of Bell Boulevard South.

A 68-year-old man, of Clewiston, was standing along the dashed lane divider between the outside lane and the inside lane of eastbound State Road 82. (The outside lane of eastbound State Road 82 was closed off by construction barrels due to being an active construction zone). The front right of the SUV collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian came to rest in the outside lane, east of the area of collision. The SUV came to rest in the outside lane, east of the collision.

The pedestrian was reported to have died from injuries sustained in the crash.
