Community Garden plots open to all Hendry County residents

CLEWISTON - Much progress has been made at the new community garden at the west end of Harlem. Volunteers from throughout the community have come together to clean up the area. They worked hard getting dumpster full after dumpster full of debris removed, in order for the area to be disced, fenced, and made ready for the community to come pick out plots and grow some fruits and vegetables.

“Men have finished the cleanup in the Community Garden and Clewiston High School is doing a magnificent job on the benches for the park,” reported Janet Taylor, who has been involved in the many beautification projects going on in Harlem including this garden.

“Mr. [Craig] Frey of UF/IFAC and USSC have partnered with the local organizations and community to plan for this project,” explained Taylor. “The garden is open to all Hendry County area residents. If you are interested in a plot please call 863-983-8312.”
