Football around the lake this week: Sept. 24

  • Pahokee Blue Devils (3-0)

The Pahokee Blue Devils are fresh off their bye week and ready to head into the bulk of their season. The Blue Devils are scheduled to host the 2-2 Palm Beach Gardens Gators on Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m. Palm Beach Gardens lost to Glades Central earlier this season 18-3.

  • Clewiston Tigers (2-0)

The Clewiston Tigers were finally able to host a home opener after two weeks off. And even with the rain throughout the game, it didn’t disappoint the Tiger faithful. Clewiston beat Calvary Christian 38-23. Now the Tigers are looking to schedule an opponent this week. If they can’t find one they’ll be off until next week when they travel to face Avon Park on Oct. 1.

  • Glades Central Raiders (3-1)

The Glades Central Raiders bounced back last week with a big 45-6 win over Santaluces. Now they get to rest up on their bye week before taking the field again on Oct. 1 when they host the 1-2 Carol City Chiefs in Belle Glade.

  • Glades Day Gators (2-1)

The Glades Day Gators had their first loss of the season last week, a 30-27 nail-biter to King’s Academy. The Gators lead the game in the final minute before King’s Academy pulled away with a last second touchdown. Next the Gators host the 2-2 Lake Placid Dragons on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.

  • Okeechobee Brahmans (0-2)

The Okeechobee Brahmans missed Sept. 10’s game against Frostproof due to weather, but looked set to face Archbishop McCarthy on Sept. 18. But a positive covid case in the program forced the team to cancel that game as well. The Brahmans are scheduled to face Frostproof this week in a rescheduled game for two weeks prior. Fingers crossed the weather cooperates this time. The Brahmans host Frostproof at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 24.
