LABELLE — On Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021, Hendry County Sheriff’s Office acquired a new mobile commandcenter through the Florida Sheriff’s Association, (FSA), Wanted and Available Property List.
The mobile command center was donated by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. The tractor is a 2001 Mac and the trailer a 1997 Fruehauf.
The acquirement of this mobile command center was at no cost to taxpayers and came with the modern hardware a public safety agency can bring to an incident. This specialized vehicle enhances the capabilities of dispatch, by allowing them to remotely dispatch units and link different radio systems together without the need to actually send personnel to the scene. It also provides an environmentally controlled platform for on-scene command and control functions. Inside, there are small conferencing areas, video-teleconferencing, data analysis and processing, and management for situational awareness. This Mobile Command Center came equipped with onboard generators, water supply and bathroom facilities which will allow the command center to operate independently for days or weeks.
By far, this equipment offers law enforcement and emergency response personnel adequate resources to provide a more seamless response to emergency situations whether man-made or natural disasters.
“I sincerely want to thank Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis for his generous contribution of this highly specialized unit,” said Sheriff Steve Whidden.
