Posted

HENDRY COUNTY — The Hendry County Bassmasters fished the BassmastersHS/JR open qualifier on the Harris Chain in Leesburg on Jan. 23. There were teams from all over the United States fishing in this tournament. The top 14 high school teams would punch a ticket to the 2022 Bassmaster High School Series National Championship presented by Academy Sports & Outdoors in Tennessee.

For the first time ever the Hendry County Bassmasters have a team that has punched their ticket placing in the top 14. Trent Handley and Kane Weekly placed eighth out of 139 teams with five of five fish weighing 14 pounds 12 ounces. The anglers fished in freezing weather, never giving up and we could not be more proud of them!

The next Henry County Bassmaster tournament will be held Feb. 11-12, fishing out of Clewiston on Lake Okeechobee. Come out and support your local anglers, weigh in will start at 2:30 p.m. both days.
