CLEWISTON  -- Deputy Gerald Ifill retired Nov. 29 after 17 years of dedicated service to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Ifill began his career in 2004 as a Correctional Officer at the South Bay Correctional Facility after retiring from US Sugar. He was later employed by HCSO in 2006.

Deputy Ifill served in many capacities in the jail over the years and always did it with a smile.

“Deputy Ifill has been a very effective, reliable and trusted employee, and a key member of our department," said Sheriff Whidden. “He consistently demonstrated the knowledge and ability to carry out and complete any directive or assignment he was given.”
