BELLE GLADE — The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Mu Rho Omega Chapter has been a pillar in the community for the last 44 years. The chapter is dedicated to providing support to the Belle Glade, Pahokee, South Bay and Clewiston communities. This provision also includes some targeted populations such as local seniors. Through their uplifting our Local Communities Initiative the Mu Rho Omega Chapter has made a committed effort to provide for seniors in our community.
Many of the elderly in the Glades are on fixed incomes. Often that income is used to purchase necessities such as food and hygiene products.
To show their support and a commitment to the aging population the Mu Rho Omega Chapter distributed 90 care packages to senior residents in Glades Pioneer and Diamond Terrace in Belle Glade on March 24. The residents really appreciated our presence along with the care bags and look forward to seeing Mu Rho omega visit back in the near future.
The Mu Rho Omega Chapter would like to thank the Uplift Our Local Communities Initiative Chairman, Sheila McKenzie and Co-Chairman Cheryl Smythe for their continued efforts as well as all the chapter members in attendance who helped make this event a success.
