New covid positivity in Florida at 3.8%

TALLAHASSEE – For the week of April 1-7, Florida’s new COVID-19 positivity rate was 3.8%.

Since the start of the pandemic, 75,538 Floridians have died related to the virus, for a fatality rate of 1.3%.

New covid positivity rates in South Central Florida for the week of April 1-7 were:

  • Collier County: 4.6% (194 new cases);
  • Glades County: 2.5% (1 new case);
  • Hendry County: 1.5% (5 new cases);
  • Highlands County: 2.8% (32 new cases);
  • Martin County: 4.1% (72 new cases);
  • Okeechobee County: 2.6% (8 new cases);
  • Palm Beach County: 6.0% (1,1234 new cases).

The Centers for Disease Control lists all the South Central Florida counties at “low” risk of covid transmission.

The CDC risk level is determined by number of cases per 100,000 population, hospital admissions and hospital bed availability.
