Posted

LABELLE — During the early morning hours of Saturday, May 27, Hendry County deputies noticed a vehicle parked at Barron Park after posted closing hours.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy made contact with the driver, who identified himself with a false name and date of birth. The deputy took the driver into custody and later transported him to the Hendry County Jail for fingerprint identification. It was at this time deputies discovered the man’s identity as that of 31-year-old Roderick Renard Talbert, Jr., of Immokalee. It was learned through this process that Talbert had an outstanding Collier County arrest warrant, and he was immediately left in the custody of jail personnel.

The deputy returned to the park and met with the deputy who had remained on scene with the vehicle and passenger later identified as a 17-year-old juvenile. Deputies instructed the juvenile to contact their parents to respond to Barron Park; upon the parent’s arrival the juvenile was released into their custody.

A search of the vehicle disclosed a black wallet, which contained several small plastic baggies of a white powdery substance, later identified as cocaine, oxycodone hydrochloride and a cigarette pack that contained crack cocaine.

Talbert was taken into custody on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of control substance without a prescription, false ID given to LEO and violation of probation. Talbert is being held in the Hendry County Jail with no bond.
