Rotary Club learns about BBBS need for volunteers

Posted

LABELLE — Laurie Waninger, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast, was guest speaker at the Rotary Club of LaBelle on February 21, 2023. Laurie provided an overview of the programs, and indicated the need for local residents to consider serving as volunteer for programs operated by BBBS. Volunteers are needed for two separate programs. First, there is a one-on-one program where the mentor meets their little once a week for one-hour either at their school or their after school care facility. The other program is community based where the volunteer picks up their little and takes them out in the community for 4 hours a month. Minimal expense if any for the volunteer --”spend time not money”.

There is a solid screening process for all volunteers and children to make sure a good fit is made. There are many children waiting anxiously for future mentors to sign-up and participate. If you have one hour a week or more time to give to a child in need, please or contact Laurie at lwaninger@bbbssun.org
