Rumor of school shooting is unfounded

CLEWISTON -- Hendry County Sheriff's Office reports a heavier than normal police presence will be on scene at the Clewiston Middle School. After receiving reports of a potential threat of a school shooting late Monday afternoon, the SRO, and Detective assigned to this incident, began actively working with Hendry County School staff, investigating the validity of this threat.
The SRO and Detective conducted interviews with potential witnesses and the suspected student. It is believed that there is no threat of any school violence;
HOWEVER …all threats and rumors of threats are taken seriously. We are providing additional patrols as a precaution.
