Teen dies in traffic crash with semi

CLEWISTON — A Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) press release stated that at approximately 6:29 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, A Ford sedan operated by a 18-year-old teen, of Clewiston, was traveling south on Flaghole Road, south of U.S. 27.

At the same time a semi/trailer operated by a 54-year-old man, of Clewiston, was traveling north on Flaghole Road, south of the Ford.

The driver of the Ford lost control of his vehicle on the wet road, crossed into the northbound lane and traveled into the path of the semi. The front of semi collided with the right side of the Ford. Both Vehicles came to rest in the area of collision.

FHP reported the 18-year-old teen was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

The crash was investigated by Trooper G. Zimmerly.
