Okeechobee High School senior Isabella Saucedo is this week’s Big Lake Athlete of the Week for her performance with the Lady Brahman varsity soccer team.
Isabelle has led the Lady Brahmans in scoring in their last three wins, and currently is the top scorer for Okeechobee. Isabelle has 2 goals each in wins against Clewiston, Port St. Lucie, and Westwood in December.
“Isabella has matured a lot since her freshman year,” said Lady Brahman coach Maria Cisneros. “Her focus and passion has driven her to score 11 goals and 3 penalties this season; the most on the team. She’s very observant before and during games and her soccer skills are very technical.”
During her sophomore season, the Lady Brahmans advanced to the district championship. That year Isabella had 17 goals, including one goal in the district semifinal win over Port St. Lucie. This year she’s currently leading the team with shots on goal with 18 through 12 games.
“The girls look up to Isabella, and she is constantly facilitating team growth by encouraging her fellow teammates and correcting their errors,” said Cisneros. “She has always been a great teammate and an amazing soccer player.”
The Lady Brahmans will need Isabella as they look to put together a run again when the season starts back up again in January. After a slow start Okeechobee built some momentum December with three wins in their last four games. They kick things off in January facing many of the same teams again that they just defeated this month.
