Football Around the Lake

• Clewiston Tigers (5-1); Down by two points in the final moments of the game, the Clewiston Tigers needed a field goal to win the game against American Heritage. But when Clewiston senior and holder Oran Singleton saw American Heritage break through the line to block the field goal, he jumped up with the ball and ran it in for a touchdown to give Clewiston a 29-24 win. Nothing like a little drama in the sweetest town in America. Next the Tigers host the 1-3 Doral Academy Firebirds at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 30.

• Glades Day Gators (2-4): There must be something in the water, because while the Tigers were having a dramatic finish to their game, the Glades Day Gators were having one of their own 20 miles away in Belle Glade. The Gators nearly pulled off a comeback against the Moore Haven Terriers but came up just one play short, losing 21-15. Next the Gators travel to Okeechobee to take on the 4-3 Brahmans at 7 p.m. on Oct. 30.

• Okeechobee Brahmans (4-3): The Okeechobee Brahmans were shut out by an impressive Martin County Tigers team last week, 27-0. The Brahmans still have a shot at a winning season this year after their impressive start. Next they host the Glades Day Gators at 7 p.m. on Oct. 30.

• Moore Haven Terriers: After weeks and weeks of waiting to get back on the field, the Moore Haven Terriers are finally back. Last week’s game proved to be worth the wait for the Terriers, as they pulled off a 21-15 win over the Glades Day Gators with a last-second goal line stand. Next Moore Haven next travels to face Evangelical Christian at 7 p.m. on Oct. 30.
