Hendry, Glades counties primary election results

The August 23 primary election results are in with both Hendry and Glades counties reporting early voting and election day ballots completely counted and  mail in votes still being tallied. 

In Hendry County, Emory "Rowdy" Howard won  District 2 county board seat with 62.64% of the vote. 

Elaine Wood won Hendry Hospital  Authority Board District 4 with  70.47% of the vote 

Of the three school board races in Hendry County, one will go to a runoff Nov. 8 and two had winners.

School Board incumbants Amanda Nelson won District 3 with 63.94% of the vote and Jon Basquin won with 63.84% in District 5.

District 4  incumbant Stephanie Busin got 48.9% of the vote while Joe Whitehead got 46.39%.

Hendry Supervisor of Elections reported of 19,020 registered voters, 4,035 ballots have been counted with a voter turnout of 21.21%. Election day and early voting ballots counted as of 1:30 p.m. Aug. 24, with mail-in ballots partially reported.

In Glades County, County Commissioner District 2 incumbant Donna Storter Long nearly split votes evenly with opponent Jeff Barns, with Storter Long getting 985 votes (50%) and Barns getting 981 (50%)

Hattie Taylor won 68% of the vote for Glades County commissioner District 4.

Kimberly Lynn Clement won Glades County School District 4 with 57% of the vote. 

As of 1:30 p.m., Aug. 24, Glades County Supervisor of elections reported a 29% voter turnout, with 2011 ballots counted and 6,891 registered voters. Early votes and election day votes counted 100%, and mail in votes partially counted.
