OKEECHOBEE -- Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office and Glades County Sheriff's Office will host the Second Annual First Responders Hookin' Specks For the Ranches tournament on Feb. 11 at the Scott Driver Boat Ramp, 10101 SR 78 West.

Entry fee is $125 per boat. Biggest Speck contest entry is $25 per boat.

All teams must register at okeesheriff.org/hookinspecks. First place prize is $2,000.

The contest will benefit Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches.

Fishing will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Contestants must fish from the boat. All boats must be checked in by 4 p.m. Teams may weigh up to seven live crappie. All crappie must be alive when entering the weigh-in line. Teams presenting more than seven fish will be disqualified. No culling fish at the ramp will be allowed. During fishing tournament hours, you can have the maximum number of fish the state allows. At the time of weigh-in, the team's seven weighable fish must be separated from any other fish.

Only one "biggest speck" entry is allowed per team.

A limit of eight poles per team can be fished during the tournament. Teams may use rod and reel combos, hand-held pole and reel combos or hand-held poles.

Crappie must be hooked through the lip or in the mouth. Landing nets may be used.

A maximum of two baits per pole may be used during tournament hours, following state and local laws. Live and artificial bait may be used. Stinger hooks are prohibited. Trailer hooks are prohibited. Crankbaits with treble hooks are allowed.

No contestant may fish within 25 yards of another contestant's boat when anchored. All boats must stay in Lake Okeechobee.

Combined weight of the fish will determine the winning team. In case of a tie for first place, the big fish of each team will determine the winner.
