Howell has experience mentoring young athletes

MOORE HAVEN -- Glades County Schools are excited to welcome Paige (Raulerson) Howell who is originally from LaBelle. After high school graduation, she first attended Florida Gulf Coast University on a softball scholarship, from there she went on to obtain her degree in Interdisciplinary Studies K-8 from Western Govenor’s University.

Howell taught as a substitute teacher at Moore Haven Middle High School while pursuing her degree. After finishing her degree, she taught as a 5th Grade Reading teacher at Moore Haven Elementary School.

Howell was a softball coach at the travel ball and high school levels for 11 years, including several years as the assistant coach of the Moore Haven Middle High School Terriers. She has a multitude of experience coaching and mentoring young athletes.

Howell is married with a 2 year-old son. She has been a stay-at-home-mom since her son was born. She is extremely excited to be back as part of the Moore Haven Elementary School staff.

Howell loves to stay active by walking/jogging, biking, lifting weights, and chasing her son around the backyard. Her husband is a triathlete, competing in triathlons which include swimming, biking and running. Her and her husband love doing things outdoors with their son.

Howell hopes to encourage students that physical activity is not something to be looked at as punishment, but rather something that can help each student be their best self physically and mentally. Physical activity is not just about what’s on the outside, but what’s on the inside. She hopes to help each student reach goals they never thought they could accomplish and bring out a self confidence they might not ever have realized was inside of them.

From her coaching experience, Howell appreciates and understands that students learn and handle being presented with new challenges in different manners. She hopes to create an environment where all students feel comfortable to try new things, and that they leave PE every time with a sense of pride and accomplishment in themselves.

She can’t wait to meet all of the students in August and help them have their best year yet!
