GLADES COUNTY — A crash in Glades County on Wednesday afternoon was due to a driver falling asleep at the wheel, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The FHP report stated at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Jan. 27 a 22-year-old man, operating a van, was traveling southeast on County Road 74 in Glades County. At the same time a 49-year-old man, operating a truck tractor, was traveling northwest on CR 74.
The 22-year-old man state he fell asleep while driving. His van traveled left of the center and sideswiped the truck tractor. After the collision, the van overturned several times coming to a final rest on the travel lanes. The truck tractor came to a final rest on the north side of the grass shoulder.
According to the FHP report, the 22-year-old man was seriously injured in the crash. The 49-year-old truck driver was not injured.
The traffic accident was investigated by FHP Trooper Logan Lemen.
