Port Charlotte woman dies in single vehicle crash on U.S. 27

GLADES COUNTY – An 82-year-old Port Charlotte woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 27 in Glades County on Monday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, at 3:38 p.m. on Sept. 12, a sedan was traveling north on US-27 entering a left curve. The vehicle failed to negotiate the curve, crossed over the grass median and traveled onto the southbound lanes of US-27. The car then traveled off the roadway, entered a grass ditch, went airborne over a canal, and overturned in a field. The driver was pronounced deceased on scene. The crash remains under investigation.
