Rural health network offers programs on chronic disease management

PALM BEACH GARDENS – The Lake Okeechobee Rural Health Network (LORHN) will offer two free workshops for rural residents around Lake Okeechobee in April and May.

• Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop (6 week virtual series, usually lasts about 90 minutes) will be offered Tuesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on April 20, 27 & May 4, 11, 18, 25. To register, go online to https://bit.ly/3fsF6YE

• Your Health Matters – A Health Literacy Workshop (3 week series; each session is 90 minutes) will be offered Wednesdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on May 5, 12, 19. To register, go online to https://bit.ly/3rGfk5z

The mission of the LORHN is to provide for the special and specific needs of the residents, visitors, and businesses in the Lake Okeechobee area; with extended services to the rural counties of Glades, Hendry, and Okeechobee, and the rural communities of Martin and Palm Beach Counties.

LORHN was formed in 1994. LORHN is one of nine Rural Health Networks in Florida, with the common goal of ensuring that all rural residents have access to a continuum of affordable health care, and to champion the efficient and effective delivery of health care services in rural areas, via the integration of public and private resources, and the coordination of health care providers.
