There's still time to sign up for free Sept. 9 baseball clinic!

Gilbert Chevrolet has again teamed up with the national Chevrolet Youth Baseball program to provide a FREE instructional clinic to the youth of the Okeechobee area.

“While baseball and other sports may only be considered ‘games,’ they help kids develop invaluable skills like leadership, cooperation, and sportsmanship while also bringing families and communities together. We’re proud to participate in an event that brings so many smiles to kids and families in Okeechobee.” said J.D. Mixon, Director of Operations for the Gilbert Family of Companies.

“Chevrolet believes in the power of play as a way for young people to build the skills needed to be successful in the future and supports the spirit of teamwork that baseball instills in its players.”

“The skills learned at this clinic help build a solid foundation for any girl or boy interested in the sport. It’s been
a blast teaming up with Gilbert to help bring these clinics to Okeechobee and I encourage all parents to get their kids involved. I hope we have a packed field on Sept. 9 so I can see all the talent coming up in Okeechobee.” said OHS Varsity Baseball Coach Eric Kindell.

The youth clinics will feature current and former MLB/MiLB players and coaches, or instructors from Ripken Baseball. The clinic will be held on Thursday, Sept. 9 at the Okeechobee High School Baseball fields
from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

There are three sessions to choose from when registering your ball player.

• Session 2-A: check-in 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with clinic rotations from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

• Session 2-B: check-in 6:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. with clinic rotations from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

• Session 2-C: check-in 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. with clinic rotations 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. This clinic is recommended for ball players ages 5 to 12. Special needs participants of all ages are encouraged to attend.

“Chevrolet vehicles are designed and built with busy families in mind, featuring a comprehensive suite of available safety features; technologies that make the journey more comfortable and engaging for the entire family; and the space and flexibility needed to haul people and cargo. We would encourage everyone to come take a look at what Chevrolet has to offer,” said Mixon.

Due to COVID-19, spots are limited, and this is an RSVP-only event. All participants must complete an online registration using the instructions below.

On-site registration will not be allowed as it has in previous years.
