The Guardian ad Litem Program would like to introduce Sherry Meade as the new Child Advocate Recruiter for Hendry and Glades Counties. Sherry has lived in Hendry County for six years, previously residing in Virginia Beach where her husband, Brian, retired from the US Navy. The Meade family moved to the area when Brian accepted employment with the US Army Corps of Engineers in Clewiston. Sherry has been an active volunteer in the area with the LaBelle Community Woman’s Club. She also serves on the Leadership Hendry and Glades Counties board. Sherry recently chaired the Green Dot training, which promotes a culture of non-violence.

The Guardian ad Litem Program recruits and trains volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children who are in foster care. There are dozens of children in Hendry and Glades Counties who need an advocate. Guardian ad Litem volunteers are people who believe that every child has the right to be safe, and to thrive in the embrace of a loving family. Volunteering to be a child advocate can be the most rewarding thing an individual has ever done.
