On Thursday, August 31 the Aktion Club (Adults with disbailities Kiwanis club) gathered to create bags that were donated to the homeless or children in need. The group assembled forty-eight bags including a blanket, coloring book, crayons, card games, toiletries, stuffed animal, socks and underwear. The bags were then delivered to the Department of Children and Families offices on Friday, September 1.
The Aktion Club is the only service club for adults with disabilities, with more than 12,000 members worldwide. We draw members from various organizations that support individuals with disabilities, as well as other community programs. Aktion club of LaBelle is held at The LaBelle Discovery Program. Kiwanis clubs are composed of like-minded, service-oriented people from the community and serves as the club’s sponsor. The Aktion Club has been in existence for about one year, have been holding meetings, doing community service work, and has completed their first civic project; Goody Bags for children in need.
