Each year, Aktion Clubs around the nation participate in Aktion Club Week, a week where they get to show the impact their club is making in their community. Aktion Club is the only service organization for adults with disabilities in the world, and is part of Kiwanis.
The LaBelle Aktion Club has used their Aktion Club Week for cleaning and restoration of our beloved Veteran’s Memorial Park, and hope to repaint it’s statues. Club members, Steven Brettell, Jordan Pringle, Kaitlyn Pringle, Harley Pringle, Tressa Pringle, Alyssa Pringle, Haley Mitchell, and Jessica Browning, have all been working hard at the memorial, but recently ran into a problem.
“They’re having hard time painting it because when it was painted previously, it wasn’t sanded down, and instead was spray painted on top of it, making it harder work,” says one of the Club’s advisors, Natalie Linares. “We are hoping to get some paint and maintenance supplies donated, to be able to finish this project before Vietnam Veterans Day, March 29th.”
They will continue working, as long as it takes, to get the park ready by National Vietnam War Veterans Day, March 29, 2020. If you would like to make a donation of supplies or help them get this project done, or you’d like to find out more about the Aktion Club and how to join, you may send an email to them at Pringleclan@msn.com.
