Benefit planned for Shana Rodriguez

Posted

In October 2018 Shana Rodriguez was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. Shana has been a resident of LaBelle since 1982. She is married to LaBelle native, Ruben Rodriguez and has two daughters Bianca and Ariana Rodriguez, both graduates of LaBelle High School.

For over three decades, Shana has dedicated herself to helping others. Graduating from Henderson State University with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Shana began her career as a public health nurse, then 26 years ago she made the decision to teach at LaBelle High School. Shana is the director of the Allied Health Academy. As an educator and health care professional, Shana’s philosophy is to prepare students for “real world” expectations. Through her program, students have been certified as nurse assistants, medical administrative assistants, and first responders.

As the Allied Health Director and with the help of her students, Shana has raised over $35k to help with LHS’ medical programs and assisting students and staff in need. As a Hendry County resident, Shana has been involved in countless fundraising events. The list of contributions made by Shana and her family are countless. She has been and continues to be a positive influence in our community and the life of others.

Now it is our turn to help Shana. Shana is undergoing several extensive and aggressive treatment plans to help her beat the odds. With our help, Shana will be able to continue staying at home and focus on getting well. A fundraiser will be held January 19 at Barron Park from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Dinners can be purchased for $10 and include pulled pork, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans with sausage, a roll and tea. There will also be $1 desserts and basket raffle starting at $1 per ticket or 6 tickets for $5. For ticket purchases or inquiries contact Sandra Taylor (863) 673-2467 or Vicki Bass (239) 707-0958.

Cash donations will also be accepted.

Please mark your calendars to attend to help Shana in her fight against breast cancer.
