With the Goddess of Greek Mythology as the theme, January 27, 2018 is a date that some young women will never forget. This was the date of the pageant that crowned the 2018 Swamp Cabbage Queen, Princess and their courts.

With all their pageant experience, former Queens Jennifer Dampler and Mallory Tanner were excellent co-emcees for this event.

During the opening dance number, each contestant introduced themselves. In the Princess competition, the four contestants were: Ryley Bourdeau, Hailey Prince, Camryn Nash, and Novie Jo Kohutek. The Queen contestants were: Kiley Prevatt, Taylor Randant, Mahalet (Mali) Gonzalez, and Myra Prince.

The crowning of the Little Miss and Little Mr. Swamp Cabbage was next with Delilah Ferguson and Blake Munson winning these awards.

Representing the Swamp Cabbage Committee, Ellen Woosley recognized the Pioneer Family and Grand Marshall. The Ramon and Bersabe Lopez Rodriguez family has been chosen as the Pioneer Family and Margaret England is the Grand Marshall.

The pageant consisted of costume, talent, evening gown competitions and on-stage questions. Each costume was according to the Greek goddess the contestants chose to represent.

The talent competition consisted of singers, dancers, and some original writings. Taking home the trophies were Ryley Bourdeau and Camryn Nash who tied in the Princess group. Mahalet Gonzalez took the trophy for the Queen group.

Each beautiful contestant in their elegant evening gown ended their walk across stage at the emcees podium to answer two on-stage questions.

A song by 2017 Princess Natalie Welky and an original writing by 2017 Queen Alyssa Johnson kept the crowd entertained during the competition.

The audience was asked to vote during intermission for the People’s Choice Award. Winning this award was Ryley Bourdeau for the Princess Division and Kiley Prevatt for the Queen Division.

The following awards were also given out:

The Top Ad sales and Ticket Sales Awards both went to Ryley Bourdeau.

The contestant that is the most helpful, friendly, pleasant and enjoyable to be around is given the Miss Congeniality Award. The girls receiving this award were: Hailey Prince for the Princess Division and Kyley Prevatt for the Queen Division.

Another prestigious award given out was for Most Photogenic. Receiving this award was Ryley Bourdeau for the Princess division and Myra Prince for the Queen Division.

With the momentum and excitement built, it was on to the big finale - the crowning of the Swamp Cabbage Princess and Queen and their courts. In the Princess Division: Ryley Bourdeau was named 2018 Swamp Cabbage Princess, Camryn Nash was 1st Runner-Up, with the Court consisting of Hailey Prince and Novie Jo Kohutek. The 2018 Swamp Cabbage queen is Mahalet (Mali) Rodriguez. Taylor Randant is 1st Runner-Up with the Court consisting of Kiley Prevatt and Myra Prince.

This year’s pageant had something that most pageants never have which was two sisters in the same pageant. It actually had two sets of sisters which is very rare. Hailey Prince, of the Princess Division is the younger sister of Myra Prince who was in the Queen Division. Novie Jo Kohutek of the Princess Division is the younger sister of 2017 Queen Alyssa Johnson.

With all of the beauty, poise, personality, intelligence and talent of everyone shining through, this was truly an entertaining evening to remember!
