The 12U All-Stars advanced to the World Series tournament after winning the Babe Ruth Florida State Championship on June 27.
Clewiston opened the state tournament with a big 14-2 win with Brooklyn Sergent getting the start on the mound. Brooklyn allowed just one hit and two runs over three innings.
The 12U All-Stars followed that win with a 5-4 victory over Chiefland. The game was tied 1-1 until Lydia Lee hit an RBI single in the second inning to put Clewiston up. Clewiston stole nine bases on the Chiefland defense. Then, in the semi-finals, the All-Stars beat an undefeated South Orlando squad 10-5.
In the state championship game against Lutz, Clewiston rallied back from being down 6-1 in the early going to claim the state title and earn a ticket to the World Series.
According to the Clewiston Youth Baseball and Softball League, this is the first state championship ever brought back to Clewiston.
