Program Outreach Coordinator Louise Bain said the mobile pantry covers five counties and tries to add variety and nutrition to people’s diets. She said approximately 250 families receive 35-40 pounds of food including fresh produce, frozen meats and potatoes per distribution.
She noted that Hendry County has a 14.4 percent food insecurity rate, according to Feeding America; Glades is 16 percent, the highest in Southwest Florida. The church has an emergency food pantry.
Please call 675-HOPE for assistance. You can find it the Second Tuesday of every month at Barron Park. Booths were also available for Health Healthy Families, RCMA, Salvation Army and Job Link.
