The International Finals Youth Rodeo(IFYR) is an internationally recognized high school rodeo. Known as the world’s richest youth rodeo, it is held annually in Shawnee, Oklahoma and attracts the best youth rodeo athletes in the world.

Blake Crawford (18) from Felda, competed in the 26th IFYR. Crawford joined more than 850 of the top high school rodeo athletes from around the world. He competed in the team roping event.

“I together with my partner have to rope the steer as fast as possible. I am the Header, which means I have to throw the rope around the steers horns and the Heeler comes around after I turn the steer and throws the rope around its hind legs. You have 30 seconds to rope the steer. Unfortunately, we didn’t win any prize. But it is a lot fun to do. We camp out there for a week and it is a really exciting event,” Blake said.

Blake received a rodeo-scholarship and will be going to East Mississippi Community College in Mayhew, Mississippi.
