Girl Scouts create art to inspire Environmental Conservation

Posted

The Girl Scouts of local Troop 1017, led by the dedicated Nicole Hellard, worked for months collecting bottle caps in order to collaborate on an art project, with a theme of conservation, with well-known artist Carlos Gonzales. Ages 7-8, these young ladies each created a flower using what would otherwise be discarded into the landfill. This project is not only a cute and lively eye-catcher, the girls are hopeful that it will create some awareness about the growing concern of one-time use plastics and how they can pollute the environment. The colorful flowers can be seen along the riverfront side of the Barron Library. Go check out their work and be inspired!
