LaBelle, Fla. – The Helms Road Extension project, a four-lane highway extending from State Road 80 west of LaBelle to State Road 29 south of LaBelle, is funded 100 percent by FDOT and is nearing completion.
The project contractor, AJAX, is currently preparing the base of the final two lanes of roadway for paving. Paving of these lanes is estimated to commence within the first two weeks of December 2018.
With life safety being the top priority for local officials, the road will not be open to the public until the traffic signals are installed.
Installation of the traffic signals is expected to occur within the first quarter of 2019.
The 10-foot wide multi-use path was completed on November 2.
