Hendry County Waste Management plans amnesty week

HENDRY COUNTY  -- Hendry County Waste Management, in conjunction with the cities of Clewiston and LaBelle, will host a week long amnesty week for Hendry County residents, April 19-24.

Residents will be asked to provide a valid driver’s license to prove they live in Hendry County.

No commercial waste will be accepted.

Amnesty drop off sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday at:

• Clewiston Transfer Station, 1350 Olympia Ave. and,

• LaBelle Transfer Station, 1360 Forestry Division Road.

Accepted waste will include:
• Yard waste: No single branch or limb larger than 4 feet long and 4 inches in diameter;
• Construction debris: Lumber, shingles, drywall, glass, tiles, wire etc.;
• White goods: Washers, stoves, water headers, etc.;

• Furniture: sofas, mattresses, chairs, etc.;
•Tires: Tires without rims, up to four tires per household.
