March 20, marked the Vernal Equinox; the beginning of Spring. The Spring Equinox signifies a time when neither of the Earth’s poles are tilted towards the Sun, resulting in a roughly equal amount of daylight and night time.

Spring time represents a time of renewal, refreshing, and resurrection. In colder climates as the ground warms and seeds begin to sprout there is a renewal of the vegetation and bright, vibrant colors paint the landscapes once more. Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the full moon following the Vernal Equinox, borrowing its name from an Old English word meaning “East” which was born of a pagan spring festival that celebrated the dawn of the new season, since dawn occurs in the east.

In Christian traditions Easter is a celebration marking the resurrection of the Messiah who offers the gift of new and eternal life.

In many cultures and religions throughout history the egg has been associated with spring rituals as a universal symbol of an opening and beginning of new life after a season of incubation.

In our own physical bodies we feel a renewed sense of excitement stirring, calling us out from our winter hibernation mode as we venture into the fresh air enjoying the oxygen that the new and refreshed greenery provides us.

In many ancient civilizations the spring equinox marked the beginning of the new year because of the new life that the season brought forth.

This is a great time for you to begin anew. Maybe you’ve had some set backs thus far from your new year’s resolutions or intentions. Maybe things haven’t gone quite as smoothly for you as you had hoped for this first quarter of 2017.
