The LaBelle Kiwanis held its first Beauty Pageant on Saturday, September 17 at the American Legion post 130. The event was spearheaded by Jackie Zavala, who has been active in the pageant scene for years.
“Young women need an outlet. Some place to showcase their poise, confidence, and independence. Not everyone is an athlete or artist, but everyone dreams of being a princess & even if it’s just for one day, that dream comes true,” Zavala says.
The pageant was emceed by Myra Johnson who eased the nerves of the twelve beautiful contestants with her contagious smile.
Patricia Longoria, Atavias Allen, Tracy Nobles, Adam Podsednik, and Val White truly had the daunting task of judging the pageant. Karan Roach and Judy Paskvan were the talliers. Tracy Miller acted as Judges Liason while Mary Bartoshuk helped the contestants backstage. Novie Kohutek provided entertainment.
When all was said and done the much anticipated announcement was made.
