The LaBelle Youth Livestock Dairy Goat Show was held on Thursday, February 14th. The official judge for the evening was Mr. Clint Webster of Ft. Myers, Florida. The show was sponsored by Diane Pendrey Scholarship Fund. The belt buckle sponsors were Randy’s Garage, Total Truck Parts, D & D Machine & Hydraulics, Creel Tractor, The Carmichael Family, Diane Stramel, CPA and C & C Feed Store.
The evening began with the peewee dairy goat show with Kate Atchley, Braden Corbitt, Macy Corbitt, Kassi Dupree, Beryl Gonzalez, Garnett Gonzelez, Benito Hernandez, Gabriella Hernandez, Reese Johnson, Weston Lavender, Armando Martinez, Andres Martinez, Vaugh McAvoy, Charlotte Nelson, Brody Perkins, Sara Ramos, Annebeth Raulerson, River Stephens, Daphne Thompson and Evalona Vigo showing dairy goats. The exhibitors walked the goats around the ring and were asked questions about the goat they were showing. All the peewee participants received rosettes for their great dairy goat showmanship.
In the 4-H/FFA Show, the dairy goats were judged on the Danish system. The show consisted of several exhibitors showing more than one dairy goat. Addison Alexander, Ariana Alexander, Gwendolyn Ash, Pearl Gonzalez, Alexandra Nelson, Gracie Swails, Eva Luna Vigo and Gwyneth Williamson were among the exhibitors.
The Best of Show buckle was awarded to Ariana Alexander with her dairy goat named Darla. Darla is an Oberhasli (Milker 2 years and under 3) and was born on March 10, 2016.
Ariana Alexander captured the first-place award with Eva Luna Vigo in second place in the Junior Showmanship division as well as in the Fitting and Grooming division.
Ariana Alexannder took the first-place award with Gracie Swails winning the second-place award in the Intermediate Showmanship as well as in the Fitting and Grooming category.
Gwendolyn Ash captured the first place Senior Fitting and Grooming award as well as the Showmanship award.
The sponsors of the show are greatly appreciated as well as the LYL committee, 4-H leaders and parents. All the exhibitors did a great job exhibiting their goats. The exhibitors who participated in the LaBelle Youth Livestock Dairy Goat Show were members the Udder Fun Dairy Goat 4-H Club led by Roger Alexander, Felda Community Pioneers 4-H Club under the direction of Ginger Swails or the Clewiston FFA Chapter led by Jenny Goeff and Ben Randolf.
